2024 NATIONAL CHILDREN’S PARLIAMENT BRINGS TOGETHER OVER 60 CHILDREN ACROSS ZAMBIA

The 2024 National Children’s Parliament was a groundbreaking event that brought together over 60 children from 10 provinces of Zambia to debate and discuss critical issues affecting their education, health, and child protection. Under the theme “Inclusive, Relevant, and Quality Education for a Better Future of Every Child in Zambia,” the child parliamentarians took center stage to share their perspectives and ideas.
The Children’s Parliament demonstrates Zambia’s commitment to promoting children’s rights aligning with the Zambia’s National Child Participation Framework, the Children’s Code Act No. 12 of 2022, and Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP). By empowering children to take an active role in shaping their future, Zambia is paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow.
The children’s parliament session was graced by Hon. Doreen Mwamba, M.P Minister of Community Development and Social Services, and the Hon. Nelly Mutti SC, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia. The Minister highlighted the significance of child participation in developmental initiatives and activities promoting their welfare, including sports, educational projects, and spiritual wellbeing.
Key among dignitaries in attendance include the #CSPR Executive Director, #UNICEF Deputy Country Representative for operations, Save the Children Zambia Country Director, and Government officials present.
