The Civil Society For Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has submitted an analysis of the 2025 national budget estimates for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Head 87 to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
In its submissions, CSPR contends that corruption has long been a significant barrier to national development in Zambia, disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable in our society. The 2025 budget estimates offer an essential opportunity to enhance the ACC’s capacity to combat this vice, but there are critical areas that still need attention.
CSPR emphasized on the need to relook on the downward trend in funding for the Corruption Prevention and Education programme following the years 2023 and 2024 respective budgets, as well as 2025 budget estimates. Championing good funding for programmes that speak to increased community involvement in anti-corruption campaigns is vital for instilling a culture of integrity within our communities. CSPR further submitted that corruption cases have become more sophisticated and technologically advanced, as such, the ACC must invest in advanced technological tools and trainings to enhance the efficiency of investigations and prosecutions.
The 2025 budget considerations for the ACC are not just numbers; they represent our collective commitment to ensuring a corruption-free Zambia that fosters growth and equality for all. Let’s join hands in supporting these vital initiatives and push for a brighter and more transparent future!
